Star of the Week Awarded in NL
Monday, September 28th, 1914: It was announced today that Chicago first baseman Dick Hoblitzel snagged the National League Player of the Week Award for his outstanding play last week.

He posted a .524 batting average as he collected 11 hits, 4 home runs and 12 RBIs.

Hoblitzel is currently batting .355 with 14 home runs and 139 RBIs.
Player of the Week: Philadelphia's Riggert
Monday, September 28th, 1914: Over the past week, Joe Riggert has feasted on American League pitching. Today the Philadelphia Athletics center fielder gobbled up the league's latest Player of the Week Award.

Riggert swung the bat with purpose all week as he collected a .462 average, 12 hits in 26 at-bats, 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and 6 runs scored.

Riggert is hitting .250 this year with 18 home runs and 78 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .340, 75 walks and scored 111 times.
Gregg Blitzes Louisville
Sunday, September 27th, 1914: Vean Gregg of the Boston Red Sox blanked Louisville 10-0 on a 5-hit complete-game shutout, striking out 7 batters and walking 1.

This season Gregg has compiled a 10-18 record with a 5.11 ERA.
