I did not realize that KP had made the decision that he was done with the Knicks. Yes, they could have forced him to stay. But once they decision was made, I like the move to clean the slate completely and starting over. Very good first step IMO.

I agree. They were going to struggle to keep KP and decided to use him to clear bad salaries which gives them about 70 mil for free agency. The New York market will attract players. This was probably the best move out of several bad options.
