Left Outs scored the deciding run in the top of the 9th inning. Harry Heilmann doubled. Duke Snider next to the plate and he drew a walk. Jimmie Foxx then stroked a one-base hit to load the bases. Goose Goslin struck out, unable to help the rally. One out later, Arky Vaughan stepped in and he drew a walk scoring the run. For the game Left Outs out-hit Negro League I 9 to 5. Don Drysdale(2-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 1/3 innings and allowing no runs. Dave Barnhill(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief. The score was tied at 6 after nine. Japanese League won it in the 11th inning. Tsutomu Wakamatsu led off and he doubled. After an out was recorded, Sachio Kinugasa stepped up to the plate and he stroked a single resulting in a run. Shigeo Nagashima then doubled plating one more runner. Isao Harimoto followed and he laced a base-knock making Japanese League the winners and sending the 48,232 fans home happy. This was a game of many highs and lows for the home town fans, as the lead kept changing - 6 times in all. Tetsuya Yoneda(1-0) went 1 inning allowing 2 runs for the win. Stan Coveleski(0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief. He was unable to retire a batter and surrendered 3 hits and no walks. Clemens(1-0) pitched a solid game. He went 7 and 1/3 innings surrendering 6 hits and 3 walks. Late 20th totaled 11 on the night. Bob Feller(0-2) was hit with the loss. He surrendered 5 runs and 5 hits in 5 innings. 'Everything felt great' Clemens said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could throw it by everybody tonight.' Walsh(1-1) earned his pay with a solid performance for Walsh. He went 9 innings allowing 8 hits and 2 walks reducing his ERA from 3.52 to 2.70. Dead Ball Era rapped out 10 hits for the night. The loss was charged to Jose Mendez(0-1). He pitched 6 innings giving up 5 hits and 1 walk. Marichal(2-0) looked very much in control throughout the day. He allowed just 7 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 2.12. NL Post WWII finished with 8 hits in the victory. Pete Alexander(1-1) was the losing pitcher. He pitched 8 innings allowing 8 hits and 2 walks. Negro League II brought 2 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 7th inning. Turn of Century had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. The winning pitcher was Frank Wickware(1-1) who allowed 3 runs in 7 innings. Dizzy Dismukes recorded his 1st save. Christy Mathewson(0-1) was the loser. Connie Mack was in a sour mood after the game. 'Even you guys up in the press box know why we lost this game. We made too many mistakes.' FOFC had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 8th inning as they scored 4 runs on 5 base hits. The critical plate appearance was by Nights who electrified FOFC Stadium when he cracked a two-run shot (his 1st of the season). Old Timers threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. The win went to Jace Kronside(1-0) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Sammy Knowles gained credit for his 2nd save. John Clarkson(0-2) ended up with the loss. He gave up 9 runs in 8 innings of work.
