Boarding reflects the pirate’s tactical skill in terms of ship-to-ship combat. Maneuver for broadsides, grapple at the right time, etc. But add to this the power of the pirate’s ship, and the quality of the crew. Even with a d4 ship, a skilled pirate with d6 or better boarding and a d6 or better crew can decimate the guano fleet with regularity. I like the way it’s scaled up…the stronger you become, the juicier targets you can go after. And in the scheme of things, replacing crews and ship damage is pretty cheap at the lower levels.

If anything, raiding should be made more difficult.

I would have loved to see that in action.
