Gunn holds out. Yup. Easy to see coming.

So, let's take stock. I have $19m under the cap, and am going to need around $10m to extend DE Harmon, which I plan to do. DE Bernard is also holding out, and is a cut candidate - that would save us another $10m or so. If I wanted to extend WR Crook, that would cost me another $5m or so.

Gunn wants to go from $7m to $24m, and get another year. He's rated 43/43 now, and in year 13 is a candidate (but not a certainty) to slide down another 5 points or so in overall rating.

We have Mathews on the roster and just re-signed chem backup Barton, so cutting Gunn is firmly on the table here. Not really because we are cap strapped, just because the case for him being leaps and bounds better than Mathews isn't that strong, and Gunn is not the future under any circumstances.

So, this isn't the crisis it seemed like it could be. I'll consider a fat one year deal, but won't sacrifice a major re-signing to do it.
