First, the shoulder issue she is currently dealing with will limit her ability to practice and thus reduce her improvement. If this can get cleaned up before November, then the impact will be significantly reduced and Bailey should have time to catch up before the state meet in February. Getting the state cuts in all strokes shouldn't be a huge deal as she already has almost all of them. She's only missing....the 50, 100, and 200 Free. Obviously, if she can't practice the chances of getting the Sectional Cut will become much more difficult. However, like Bear she's only about 3 seconds from that time in several events.

Second, making a relay at Swim Atlanta is much tougher...The sheer number of Swim Atlanta swimmers will make it difficult...Swim Atlanta has over three times as many kids in the program compared to Chattahoochee Gold...so much more competition for the 8 relay spots. Also Swim Atlanta has some very high end swimmers. For instance, there are 2 sisters that are both 10 and under and both are ranked in the top 3 nationally for the age group in multiple strokes. They will undoubtedly get 2 of the 8 relay spots.

Based on what we find out in physical therapy her goals may be downgraded a bit...

So Bailey's write up above requires some recapping.

First, Bailey was on the shelf for quite a while, in fact her first meet was in November, but as I mentioned, if she could get back in the pool by November then I felt she might have time to get her times down (boy was that an understatement).

Second, Due to the shoulder problems, we pulled Bailey from SA and moved her to Chattahoochee Gold, which made the odds of getting on a relay team much higher...

That stated here is how she did...

Get All State Cuts - YES

Get At Least 1 Sectional Cut - YES - she got 6 and if her Breaststroke hadn't fallen apart recently, she probably would have had both IMs as well

Swim on a Chattahoochee Gold Relay Team - YES - anchored the "A" Free Relay and Swam the Free Leg on the "A" Medley Relay
(note: I find it a bit ironic that Bailey ended up the best Freestyler in her age group on Chattahoochee Gold, when it was her poor form in the Free at SA that caused her to swim the stroke slowly and caused her all the shoulder problems in the first place...)
