Bailey didn't do as well as she had hoped she would, but because of the double swimmers ear, she was unable to practice like she needed to. She kicked, so she was in shape for the races, but her dives and turns were extremely poor, and certainly contributed to a majority of her time gains. All and all I was pleased, she handled herself well and she enjoyed the experience, which was the whole point...

Bear

500 Free - Seeded 41st, Time 6:36.38, RESULTS - 40th, Time 6:47.85

Poor Bear, He was so concerned he wouldn't do well, the kid actually made himself sick before this race. It started at Breakfast and before I knew it he had taken 4 trips to the bathroom. Before the race at the facility we got him calmed down a bit, but right before the race, he found me and told me he almost threw up in the bathroom. I knew he wasn't going to swim well so the time didn't surprise me. I really tried to take the pressure off of him by letting him know we didn't care about his time, we felt he had earned the right to be here, we felt he'd do well during the race, but it didn't help. He was so uptight, on two occassions he did his flip turn and almost didn't touch the wall, and because he could just barely brush the wall with his feet, he barely got any push...

One of the main reasons that we brought the kids was so they could experience the event. Hopefully, next time he won't get so uptight...
