The scheduling is fairly strategic. Basic strategy, but pretty integral. I don't want losing seasons, and I want my prestige going up every year. Eventually, I'll care about my RPI a little bit, and I'll have a team w/ enough talent to beat better teams. That might not happen until I start getting job offers and take another job, likely at a prestige 3 conference. Once that happens I'll schedule the weak teams until I get a couple recruiting classes in, then I'll start upping the difficulty of teams that I'm scheduling so that I can try to get at-large tournament bids.

When I have a top flight program I schedule mostly prestige 45-55 teams(good mid-majors and lower tier big 6 conference members) and then pick out like 3 Prestige 100 teams to pick on every year to make sure I can get a 1 seed if I'm good enough.
