It does - but I guess it's because Belichick had quite an established career as a coordinator/assistant Head Coach on both sides of the Cleveland stint. Shula thus had 33 seasons, Belichick only 26.

Edit: It's also interesting that Belichick is now 4 years older than Shula was when he retired. Shula seemed older. Though, like you, I've been around Belichick's entire career so his aging seems more gradual - its only when I see old clips I that realize how old he is now.
