Cy Young(3-1) pitched well for Turn of Century in their victory. He went 8 and 2/3 innings surrendering 12 hits and 3 walks. Turn of Century managed 12 in their victory. Bullet Joe Rogan(2-2) took the loss. He gave up 7 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings. OLD TIMERS AT NL POST WWII Ancients........ 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 - 1 6 1 Post-Nationals.. 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 - 2 5 0 Win:Spahn(1-1) Loss:Cummings(0-1) Warren Spahn went the distance at Big League Field as the Old Timers Ancients lost a heartbreaker to NL Post WWII club by the score of 2 to 1. NL Post WWII won the game with a run in the 9th inning. Ernie Banks smacked a single. Billy Williams stepped into the batter's box and he doubled. Johnny Bench then would hit into a fielders choice giving NL Post WWII the win much to the delight of the home town crowd. NL Post WWII managed only 5 on the night. Spahn(1-1) was the winner allowing 1 run for the game. Candy Cummings(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He allowed 2 hits and no walks without retiring a batter. CARIBBEAN AT AL POST WWII Estrellas....... 2 0 0 0 0 2 0 0 1 - 5 9 0 Post-Americans.. 2 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 - 4 6 1 Win:Tiant Sr.(1-3) Loss:Newhouser(0-1) Save:Salazar(2nd) Homeruns- L.Aparicio(1st), M.Mantle-2(3rd), C.Fisk(1st) Roberto Avila hit 2 doubles as the Caribbean Estrellas defeated the AL Post WWII ballclub by a score of 5 to 4 at Yawnef Park. The game was decided in the top of the 9th inning. After an out was recorded, Keith Hernandez laced a base-knock. Hal Newhouser then unleashed a wild pitch. Dave Concepcion then singled scoring the run. AL Post WWII was out-hit by Caribbean, 9 hits to 6. Luis Tiant Sr.(1-3) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 8 innings. Lazaro Salazar earned the save, his 2nd. Newhouser(0-1) absorbed the loss. NEGRO LEAGUE II AT LATE 20TH Twos............ 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 4 1 - 6 7 1 Modern Stars.... 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 - 2 5 0 Win:Manning(1-1) Loss:Johnson(2-2) Homeruns- J.Beckwith(2nd), L.Santop(4th) The Negro League II Twos defeated the Late 20th Modern Stars by a score of 6 to 2 at Free Agent Field. Max Manning(1-1) did the job in relief, and he got credit for the win. He was reached for 3 hits and no walks in 2 innings. Negro League II finished with 7 hits in the victory. Randy Johnson(2-2) was given the loss. He pitched 7 and 1/3 innings giving up 4 hits and 2 walks. AL PRE WWII AT LEFT OUTS Pre-Americans... 1 0 0 0 4 1 0 0 3 0 - 9 14 0 Leftovers....... 0 0 0 5 0 2 0 2 0 1 - 10 12 1 Win:Pennock(1-1) Loss:Hoyt(1-2) Homeruns- B.Ruth(7th), L.Gehrig(3rd), H.Greenberg(1st), A.Vaughan(3rd) Shortstop Arky Vaughan hit one over the fence and had 4 RBI as the Left Outs Leftovers outscored the AL Pre WWII team in 10 innings 10 to 9. The score was tied at 9 after nine. Left Outs came out the victor in the 10th inning. Duke Snider drew a walk. Two outs later Harry Heilmann stepped in and he was walked intentionally. Jimmie Foxx then lined a single giving Left Outs the victory as 40,744 happy fans celebrated wildly. A wild and woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times. The victory was credited to Herb Pennock(1-1) who went 2/3 of an inning, allowing no runs. Waite Hoyt(1-2) ended up with the loss in relief. He struggled with his control issuing 5 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings. DEAD BALL ERA AT FOFC Ghosts.......... 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 - 1 8 0 All Stars....... 0 1 0 0 0 0 1 0 - 2 7 0 Win:Williams(2-0) Loss:Walsh(1-3) Save:Knowles(4th) Homeruns- S.Gunner(3rd) Right fielder Persimmon Pflaggstettler had 2 base hits at FOFC Stadium as the sizzling FOFC All Stars beat the Dead Ball Era Ghosts by the count of 2 to 1. John Williams(2-0) gave FOFC a solid outing. He allowed 7 hits and no walks in 7 innings lowering his ERA from 5.14 to 3.21. Dead Ball Era had a chance to come back in the 9th but Home Run Baker was gunned down trying to steal second, to get himself into scoring position. "I'm not sure why teams keep trying to run on us, especially in criticle situations. Don't they realize how good Bullock's and my arms are? I hope they keep on running, we'll take the easy outs," Hays said. Williams got relief help from Sammy Knowles who gained credit for his 4th save. Ed Walsh(1-3) was the loser. FOFC added another win to their now very impressive winning streak.
