This, especially re: the tone, was pretty much the takeaway with me and the kid here in the batcave tonight as we squeezed in ep. 1 before he heads back to school. It looks and feels and even sounds right.
I'm not sure about the way they chose to approach the telling of S1, a more straightforward timeline would certainly be less of a challenge for viewers (especially those coming from zero knowledge) but there's enough here to give it a chance and see how that works out.
