Savannah State (0-4) at NC A&T (0-1)

Savannah State is rated 70 OVR, a bit higher than us. They have two 6'11” big men starting, both freshmen, and both look pretty decent. Their PG, Monty Brodermann looks to be the only 3 point threat. SG Rod Mitchell is their leading scorer though, so we stick Shiloh on him. He's only averaging 10 ppg though, this doesn't appear to be a team with a big scoring threat anywhere.

Nothing much so far but I'm worried that their inside guys are going to create foul trouble for us. Hayes, Coleman and Shiloh all have 1 foul each.

Shiloh has 2 fouls now, Ewing has drained a 3 and Coleman has 6 points to lead us so far.

Nice run for us, Shepherd has our last 5 points. Their big men play really, really poor defense, heh. Shepherd/Coleman/Cruz/Hayes could all have big games here.

Starters back in. Shepherd scored 7, Cruz 4 and Works got a couple transition buckets for us as our backups give us a nice edge.

A buzzer beater from about 25 feet by Alston gives us our biggest lead. The offense is obviously in a groove. 10 from Ewing, 10 from Coleman, 7 from Hayes, 7 from Alston, 7 from Shepherd.

My one disappointment is that Mitchell, their leading scorer, has 16. Shiloh is playing WAY too far off him... tight D once he has the ball but he's being allowed to catch the ball with 4 feet of space in front of him and he's making open shots. That might be a D Awareness thing? Shiloh's is poor.

We've let them close the gap with some sloppy play in the last minute or two. Mainly we beat the press and then try to get an easy basket and make a stupid pass... backups are coming in to settle things down.

The backups did the same thing the starters did... solid play to push the lead back up to 14, then sloppy play to let them back in it. Cruz and Shepherd are both having good games off the bench. The starters are back in to put it away.

A 7-0 run from the starters should effectively seal the game.

Coleman had what I'm pretty sure is a career high today, as we finish off Savannah State and slow it down at the end.
