The Rattlesnakes have started off the season quite well – they are 18-14 and currently 3rd in the Eastern Division. The Detroit Comets are leading the ED at 20-12 and the Albuquerque Roughriders (one of the best random team names I've ever seen) are leading the Western at a blistering 23-9 pace. 1st baseman Pedro Cortez is hitting up a storm – currently second in the league with a .440 average. Will Sharp is leading the team with 7 homers and 24 RBI. Javier Gonzales is hitting .370 so far in his rookie season, and the pitching rotation is looking quite good so far.

The Snakes have fallen to fourth place in the Eastern but are still playing over .500 ball at 39-32. The Baltimore Armadillos now lead the division at 45-26, and Albuquerque leads the West at 42-29. Pedro Cortez continues to drive the ball incredibly well – he is leading the league now and hitting .397. Willi am Sharp has 16 home runs and 49 RBIs to lead the team. Starter Cesar Guillen is stunning everyone with his strong pitching – he is currently 9-2 and one of the best starters in the league. 5th man Trevor Roberts is 6-3 and Micheal Downing has a 3.92 ERA and is 5th in the league in strikeouts. These young players are really coming along and this team looks nothing like last year's Snakes team. Fan interest is already back up to 45 and we have more than doubled average home game attendance from last year.

Meanwhile, the most dominant pitcher in the league, Oscar “Mountain Man” Hunt, is 11-0 on the year with a 1.08 ERA. His nickname is especially appropriate since he plays for the Denver Mountains.

In the amateur draft, Atlanta had the #2 pick, and scored some excellent players. 1st round pick was one of the only two great starting pitchers – Jorge “Jester” Castillo. This 18 year old from Colorado doesn't throw hard, but looks like he will be something special in movement and control if he develops. The second round pick was Venezualan outfielder Emanuel Firmino – a power hitter with good contact as well, good speed, and average defense. Outstanding relief pitcher Jason Ricks was the third pick, and fifth round pick reliever Wilson Heredia looks like he could help our bullpen as well.
