The Rookie Draft, 2052

We were in good shape for the draft even before the trade, with first round picks at #6 and #10, and now we have #3 and 9 picks in the second round as well. The first overall pick by the Dallas Wildfires is starter Jose Rodriguez, which is a really odd pick as there seem to be much better pitchers on the board, but instead they grab a two star potential guy. We pick up shortstop Jose Sousa with our first pick – he's only 17 but should be a good hitter with very good power, solid defensively, with some speed – but he'll take plenty of development. We took excellent relief pitcher Carlos Silva with our second first round pick – he's 21 and is ready to go in the majors already. Our next pick at 2(3) is Jose Garcia – good hitting third baseman – we'll see how he develops. Our next pick is another reliever, Tony Tillman – he's young but has a great fastball and slider. We continue with Carl Mason, a hot-hitting and very fast second baseman. Rounding our the draft are a pair of starters, Gerardo Wilhelm and John Young, and right fielder Jeff Hunt.

At this point we are rated as having the best minor league system in the league – mostly because of last year's phenoms Emanual Firmino (1^st rated prospect) and Jorge Castillo (5^th.)
