Our next 2 or 3 games are against presumed cupcakes so its recruiting time.

Early Signing Period

I've got 3 scholarship offers out. I sim up to the last day before the signing period starts.

4* C Florentino McCants - 7 feet tall, looks to be a decent rebounder and post player. We've still got the only offer out on him, Texas and Texas Tech look to be asleep at the wheel. #94 OVR/#4 C out of Houston. I'm hoping this means he's mine.

4* SF Jamon Hodge - 6'5" SF, #83 OVR/#9 SF out of Atlanta. Looks to be a decent athelete and well rounded SF. He doesn't look like a superstar anywhere but I still have a real hard time judging SF types. We have him at 100% and have for a long time... so does Kentucky. He'll sign with one of us on day 1 I presume.

4* SG Prosper Day - 6'3" SG, #91 OVR/#31 SG. I likely had a shot at better ranked players, but Day has a 'B' 3 point rating as a SG. For comparison Moye is a B- with an 80 rating. So Day looks like a decent defender and all around SG, who will hopefully come in as a freshman as a 82 or better rated 3 point shooter and develop from there. That's the dream, at least. Day is deciding between Florida State and Mississippi State.

I expect all 3 of these guys to sign immediately.

Signing Day

SF Jamon Hodge signs with Kentucky - 0 for 1.

SG Prosper Day signs with FLORIDA STATE - 1 for 2!

C Florentino McCants signs with FLORIDA STATE - 2 for 3!

First lets see what we've got:

4* C Florentino McCants - 7'0" 215 lbs - #94 OVR/#4 C - Houston, TX

Shooting: C
Skills: B-
Defense: A-
Athleticism: B-
Rebounding: A
Intelligence: A
Potential; B+
Size: A

10.8 ppg/10.5 rpg in the ABL, a 42% shooter. He had 21 blocks, 2.6 per game as well.

B- orb/B- drb. B Blocks. B- post off/B- post def. C+ close/C in traffic. B awareness on both ends, B+ strength. I'm expecting rebound numbers in the low-mid 80s, post numbers in the low 80s/high 70s, and a blocked shot rating in the 70s. He probably won't have great offensive skills but I'm really, really excited about him nonetheless.

4* SG Prosper Day - 6'3" 204 lbs - #91 OVR/#31 SG - Conway, AR

Didn't play in the ABL.

Shooting: A-
Skills: B+
Defense: A-
Athleticism: A-
Rebounding: C+
Intelligence: B-
Potential: B+
Size: B-

C+ speed/C- quickness. C+ defense/B steals. A- close/C med/B 3/B off the dribble. B strength/B+ hustle. his awareness is a bit lacking, C/C-, so probably numbers in the mid-high 60s or low 70s there.

So that leaves me with 1 more scholarship, and I have no targets. I had 3 backups but all signed elsewhere already. I get 3 4* SF's who have had some interest but no one working real hard on them yet and make one offer and set the other two up for some visits as well. nothing else will happen this week but we'll see.

I make my scholarship offer to a kid out of Cincinnati, #85 OVR/#10 SF Cory Taft, a 6'6" guy who looks likely to be an offensive specialist. B- close/B med/B- 3/A- off the dribble/B- in traffic. his defense and awareness hasn't scouted out yet.

at Rice 66
Florida State 44

heh. rice was rated 78 overall. Sneed with 10, Forte 10. We get outscored 34-11 in the 2nd half.

Well, so much for my scholarship offer. Cory Taft signs with Louisville at the end of the early signing week. One of my other SF targets does as well.

I've only got 1 junior on the roster, meaning I'd have just one scholarship available next year. I'll poke around and see what I can see, but its very possible that I spend the rest of this year prepping some HS juniors for next year and leave this last scholarship open as a way to start balancing the classes a bit more. I'm not real excited about anything else out there.
