- In the Main Event, the UFC Welterweight Title will be on the line as champion Jon Fitch faces Matt "The Terror" Serra. Serra has seen a career resurgence over the last year, and now he is rewarded with a shot against the champion.

- The Co-Main Event will be a battle between Middleweight contenders, as Demian Maia takes on Vitor "The Phenom" Belfort.

- Also on the live show is another middleweight battle pitting Chael Sonnen against Yoshihiro Akiyama.
