Here is a breakdown of the top girls in the 11/12 age group:

Code:
50 Free 100 Free 50 Back 50 Brst 50 Fly 100 IM Bailey 30.19 1.07.57 35.20 44.34 33.44 1.17.43 Rayley 30.45 1.07.39 36.94 43.03 36.19 1.22.28 MK 29.98 1.07.37 35.13 39.35 37.07 1.14.10 KJ 30.76 1.06.93 35.14 41.54 31.28 1.16.84 CR 29.71 1.07.81 34.58 43.71 34.20 1.21.33 CF 31.89 1.10.17 37.87 45.32 38.20 1.23.45 Reese 33.14 1.12.49 38.34 41.10 35.17 1.23.85 Jordan 35.42 1.21.69 44.57 43.99 42.02 NT

This should give you an idea how tight the age group is. These times are from the year round short course season, so they are several months old, but they are still a pretty good number to build from. There are a couple of other year round swimmers, but they typically have been a few seconds off the ones listed. If they've stepped up in abilty this will get even tighter.

The girls in italics are 12 the rest are 11...

As you can see with the exception of Breast, Bailey is typically one of the top swimmers out of the 8. Even when she is 4th like in the 100 free she isn't far off of the top times. Problem for Bailey is that based on the breakdowns, she might struggle to be on the A relays...in fact, right now the A medley would be:

Back - CR
Breast - MK
Fly - KJ
Free - Bailey (but I'll bet Rayley gets this spot as her freestyle has dramatically improved during long course)

Free Relay is very similar...

CR
MK
Bailey
Rayley

But KJ has also shown big improvements in LC...so Bailey will be in some tight races...

Unfortunately, this has the potential to get ugly...and we'd rather Bailey not be involved. If she clearly belongs on the A team, then fine, if it is debatable, we're probably going to just let the other child have the spot. Bailey will get her turn next year when the 11/12s should be significantly stronger than they will be this year (assuming everyone comes back).
