Right Defender

Joe Jackson - 4*
Bob Varela - 4*
Fausto Diaz - 3*
Stephen Lacey - 3* (youth pull)
Servando Roberts - Silver

Our youth coordinator says Lacey is our best youth pull this year. 9 accel/9 sta. 5 marking/7 tackling. 6 anticipation/9 concentration/6 positioning/8 teamwork/12 work rate. Actually pretty solid. Determination is low, but he holds up pretty well against Joe Jackson and Bob Varela. I go ahead and offer Lacey Hot Prospect status, which is $70/wk.

Varela *asks* for a non-contract deal, with an appearance fee and shutout bonus and unused sub fee. I go ahead and give him that.

I look through my scouts recommendations and no one seems as solid overall as Joe Jackson, so I give Jackson the $130/wk he wants.

Diaz will stay without a contract and play on the reserves, Roberts will be cut.

Left Defenders

Unlike at DR, my coaches hate all our left defenders. The one they like the most is actually youngster Arturo Flores. My assistants basically like all my DC's who happen to also be able to play DL better than everyone.

Arturo Flores - 3 1/2*
Sean Rongen - 2 1/2*
Danny Coggins - 2 1/2*
David Campbell - 1 1/2*

No youth candidates here.

Campbell really struggled last year, 6.57 rating. He's gone. Flores does look like a guy I ignored a bit last year, I give him a non contract offer that he wants at $120/appearance. I don't do anything with Rongen or Coggins yet.

There is a DL for Blacksburg who I tried to sign last year and he still seems appealing to me. I make him an offer, he also wants a non-contract deal with a per appearance fee. I offer it.

Central Defenders

The four guys I relied on last year were Hernandez/Forrest/Pickering/Burke. My assistant likes Hernando Galvis too, but he just doesn't seem to work for me that well.

Hernandez I give what he wants, a contract in the $300/wk range. Pickering wants a non-contract deal, I give it to him as well.

Forrest wants over $400/wk. I'm not so sure there. I'm going to wait and see, if I lose him b/c of it so be it, I love these three guys (Hernandez/Pickering/Forrest) but I'm not sure about sinking over $1300/wk into DC's.

I spot a DC on a Colonial Division 2 team who might be available who also looks amazing, and I make him an offer.

I sit on all my other players, and I have a lot of DC's, so while I might decide I can't afford all of my favorites, depth won't be a concern here.
