- Joe Nemechek decided to resign from the #42 SABCO Team due to a boycott which Joe didn't race at Baton Rouge last week Elk Grove native Kyle Larson will make his Starbucks Cup Debut.
- After 2 Races of Running One-Offs for the #30 for Bahari Racing, Washington High Student (Fremont, CA) Makayla Richard will be in the #30 starting in Fontana
- After Fontana Boston Reid will be Running One-Off at Indianapolis in hopes to race in the 1998 Season driving the #25, So There will be 2 #25's in the Brickyard
- Showstopper Network hs learned that there will be 2 Racers from West Coast School of the Arts the first one will have Aika Doone running in the #78 Giving Sponsorship to her studio, Kelcey Blight will be in the #79 getting sponsorship from In-N-Out Burger
- Roger Yasukawa will make his 1st Starbucks Cup Start driving the #35
- Means Racing hired Narain Karthikegan to drive the #52 beginning at Fontana
- Murrieta Dance Project Student Stephanie Bekker will race at Fontana giving her studios sponsorship in the #47
- Dick Trickle had a #90, So His Own Team will be getting a one-off for a 2nd Team driven by Focus Dance Center Student Vivian Lu in the #64
- Caitlin Shaw will drive the #77 for Hillin-Jasper Motorsports.
- Wally Dallenbach to be running in the #46 but he would be an in-race reporter for the Showstopper Network (1) (which will be syndicated to be televised live in over 80 TV Stations across the country) driving that car sponsored by First Union

Jeff Gordon and The King (Richard Petty) took the First Set of Laps to the Green Flag at Auto Club however the First Caution fell on Lap 6 as Terry Labonte blown an Engine however 75 Laps Letter the King handled his #43 STP Pontiac until a 6 Car Wreck took place on Lap 186, But in the Bobby Labonte took the lead on the restart following the caution and held on to win the race as for me I Came in 3rd making a good finish to survive these wrecks with the next race which will be going to Indianapolis
