1 feature game this week, and we go to the Pac 12:

1/25/18- Stanford (Benito Sanchez) @ Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- This game was a sight for sore eyes, as neither team shot better than 37% from the field. Stanford was also a dismal 9-17 from the free throw line and 3-16 from the three point line. They trailed by 6 at halftime. The difference was when you take more shots, you should make more shots, and that's what happened in this one. Stanford made more shots because they took more shots, and escaped with a road victory.

Final Score: Stanford- 54, Colorado- 52

Now to the rest of the weekly recap:

Hartford (David Ginsberg) -- 13-11, 5-5 America East.

1/26/18 at Vermont (L 78-67).
1/28/18 at Maine (L 76-66).

Bad week for the Hawks, who lost 2 very winnable road games. Now they go back home for 3 games.

ECU (Al Hutt) -- 6-12, 3-6 American.

1/23/18 at Harvard (L 80-70).
1/27/18 at UCF (W 67-64).

A road split for the Pirates, who actually played well at Harvard, but not well enough. Nice for them to get another conference win though.

Tulsa (Will Brown) -- 14-7, 6-3 American.

1/27/18 at Memphis (L 69-60).

Just 1 game for the Golden Hurricane this week, and it was a tough loss on the road to a very good Memphis team. Next week they've got a couple more tough games.

Davidson (Randolph Childress) -- 15-5, 7-1 Atlantic 10.

1/24/18 vs. Mississippi State (W 73-68).
1/27/18 at Duquesne (W 81-79).

2 more wins for the Wildcats, by a combined total of 7 points this week. They have another tough road test next week at UMass.

Clemson (Charles Johnson) -- 8-11, 2-7 ACC.

1/24/18 at #3 Virginia (L 78-56).
1/27/18 vs. Boston College (L 63-59).

The losing streak is 5 now for the Tigers, as things have definitely gone south.

Duke (Dean Hoo) -- 11-8, 3-6 ACC.

1/24/18 at Virginia Tech (L 76-57).
1/27/18 at N.C. State (L 80-72).

The Blue Devils are also struggling mightily, having lost 4 of their last 5. This is definitely not the same Duke we are used to seeing.

#11 Kansas (Dave Johnson) -- 17-4, 8-1 Big 12.

1/22/18 at Texas Tech (W 90-71).
1/27/18 at #4 Baylor (W 83-66).

The Jayhawks rolled this week, pounding both opponents on the road, and one of those opponents was a top 5 team. Well done.

TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 9-12, 1-8 Big 12.

1/22/18 at Texas (L 76-63).
1/27/18 at West Virginia (L 66-56).

2 more losses for the Horned Frogs, who have lost 5 in a row now. As expected, they got their reality check when conference play started.

Michigan (Cillian Tribble) -- 11-9, 4-4 Big Ten.

1/24/18 vs. Maryland (W 75-64).
1/27/18 at Penn State (W 90-76).

A couple of feel good wins for the Wolverines, and they needed them. Their opponents next week are a combined 39-2. Yikes!

#12 Michigan State (Al Mighty) -- 18-2, 8-0 Big Ten.

1/24/18 vs. Indiana (W 95-73).
1/27/18 at Nebraska (W 76-59).

2 more easy wins for the Spartans who are rolling, as they have a week of feature games next week. 2 in fact as they'll take on both Northwestern and Michigan.

#22 Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 16-3, 5-3 Big Ten.

1/24/18 vs. Rutgers (W 57-52).
1/27/18 vs. Iowa (W 60-51).

A couple of wins for the Wildcats this week, who needed some positives as they've struggled in conference a little bit. Next week is a big showdown with Michigan State.

Hawaii (B.B. Gunn) -- 11-10, 4-3 Big West.

1/25/18 vs. UC Riverside (W 79-68).
1/27/18 at Cal Poly (W 67-62).

2 very important victories for the Warriors to get back over .500 both overall and in conference. Hopefully they can keep it going.

Charlotte (Timmy Tribble) -- 6-14, 3-5 Conference USA.

1/25/18 at UAB (L 68-65).
1/27/18 vs. Florida Atlantic (L 61-40).

2 more losses for the 49ers, but a good effort again at UAB, as they almost upset them again.

Rice (Charlie Shocker) -- 10-9, 4-4 Conference USA.

1/25/18 at FIU (L 71-67).
1/27/18 vs. Louisiana Tech (W 75-66).

Another split for the Owls, and that makes about 6 weeks in a row with a split. Next week could be a little different though as they are facing 2 of the top teams in the conference.

Monmouth (Thomas Carrano) -- 11-12, 8-6 MAAC.

1/26/18 vs. Niagara (W 65-59).
1/28/18 vs. Rider (W 80-64).

The Hawks took care of business this week by winning a couple important games. Next week is big as they face the 2nd and 3rd place teams in the conference, so a chance to move up is on the line.

Norfolk State (Payten Carrano) -- 9-11, 4-4 MEAC.

1/22/18 vs. North Carolina A&T (W 81-67).
1/27/18 vs. Howard (W 67-62).

2 home wins for the Spartans as they are hopefully getting back on track. They've won 3 in a row.

Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 11-8, 6-2 Pac 12.

1/25/18 vs. Stanford- feature game, highlighted above.
1/27/18 at Arizona State (W 65-54).

A split for the Buffaloes, who if they could have hit some more shots, would have won both games this week. But they are still doing well.

Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 15-5, 6-2 Pac 12.

1/25/18 at Colorado- feature game, highlighted above.
1/27/18 vs. USC (W 77-58).

The Cardinal get a couple wins, including that come from behind win over Colorado and a hammering of USC. The schedule is favorable next week before a huge showdown the following week.

#9 UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 18-2, 8-0 Pac 12.

1/25/18 vs. Oregon (W 74-66).
1/27/18 at Utah (W 79-48).

2 more wins for the Bruins who have now won 10 in a row. Much like last year, the conference title is going to go through them.

Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 12-8, 4-4 Pac 12.

1/25/18 vs. Oregon State (W 78-57).
1/27/18 at California (W 69-68, OT).

It took overtime, but the Cougars, with the win at California, have now set the team record for most wins in a season. Before this, Washington State hadn't won more than 11 games in a season. With as wide open as the Pac 12 is after UCLA, they could easily get to 17, 18 wins.

Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 9-11, 4-4 SEC.

1/24/18 vs. Vanderbilt (W 85-64).
1/27/18 vs. Ole Miss (L 87-67).

A split for the Crimson Tide this week, as neither game was very competitive.

#25 Florida (Noah Oppenheimer) -- 14-6, 4-4 SEC.

1/24/18 at Auburn (W 74-65).
1/27/18 at #7 VCU (L 85-61).

A road split for the Gators, as they get hammered by conference newcomer VCU, who surprisingly has came in and dominated the conference so far. Florida goes on the road for 2 games next week, including a feature game.

#5 Kentucky (Patrick Hutt) -- 17-3, 6-2 SEC.

1/24/18 vs. Texas A&M (L 71-58).
1/27/18 at Georgia (W 80-54).

A split for the Wildcats, who actually lose at home and win on the road.

Troy (Brett Hawkins) -- 7-15, 4-9 Sun Belt.

1/25/18 vs. Georgia Southern (L 79-71).
1/27/18 vs. Appalachian State (L 53-44).

2 more losses for the Trojans, who at this point are just trying to stay out of the cellar in the Sun Belt. It looks like a wasted season for them.

Here is a look at the national top 25 heading into next week:

Kentucky, UCLA, and Michigan State all keep their respective rankings, while Kansas moves up 4 spots after that big win against Baylor. Somehow, even after splitting last week, Florida moves up 2 spots. Crazy. And Northwestern, who won 2 games this week, moves down 2 spots? Hmm. Hello Davidson, who is getting a lot of national votes now. Stanford also gets a few votes after their 2 wins this week.

Now for the mid-major top 25:

Davidson continues to soar, moving up 6 spots in the mid-major poll. With their split, Tulsa continues to lose votes, but they are still hanging around in the Others Receiving Votes category.
