Ladies and gentlemen, what a momentous occasion it was at Jefferson Street Grounds today, as the Philadelphia Athletics and Rockford Forest Citys took the field for Major League Baseball's first ever game!

The Athletics emerged victorious with a 12-11 win, thanks in large part to the heroics of shortstop Jared Tunno. Tunno went 3 for 5 with a triple, a double, and a walk, scoring 4 runs and driving in 3. The Forest Citys put up a valiant effort, but it was the Athletics who came out on top in the end.

Adam Jones provided the game-winning hit, a run-scoring single in the bottom of the ninth inning that sent the Athletics home as the victors. It was a historic day for Major League Baseball, and the excitement at the ballpark was palpable as these two teams kicked off the first season of professional baseball.

Congratulations to the Philadelphia Athletics on their win and a heartfelt thank you to both teams for taking part in this momentous event. Here's to a thrilling and successful season for Major League Baseball!
