2012 Season (Final)

2012 Season (Final)

MAJOR BOWL TIER
Off week.
USC BCS RANK: --

4th quarter grades came out today. Two players with D-'s, 3 players with D's. Used up the end of our coaching blocs to give those players more academic assistance and get them through the semester.

5th year senior QB Everett McDaniel was caught committing a serious violation of team rules. The violation didn't require NCAA involvement, but I've suspended him from the team for the rest of the year. When the media asked me about what happened I replied "No comment, he's just off the team for disciplinary reasons."

It's been a difficult year regarding player behaviour. First Geoff Warren's shoplifting charges, then Tracy Flowers underage drinking, and now this. We aren't the frackin Miami Hurricanes or a bunch of gangstas. Obviously the suspensions didn't send a serious enough of a message to some of the team - or coaches. Nuff said.

PAC-10 (5-3-0) Overall (8-4-0)

FOUR STAR TIER
Off week.
USC BCS RANK: --

Invited three more recruits to come out for the program as walk-ons. We'll wait and see what happens.

NEW YEAR'S TIER
Off week.
USC BCS RANK: --

All three invitees agreed to walk-on next year. Levon Vanderlaan, a running back from Westchester High School in Los Angeles, Ty Pilgrim, an offensive guard from East Palestine High School in East Palestine, Ohio and Jake Stagg, an outside linebacker from Ernest Righetti High School in Santa Maria, California all agreed to play for us next season. All three have superior academics and all three have the potential to make some contribution down the road if they develop well - unlike your average walk-on.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TIER
Off week.
USC BCS RANK: --

Syracuse defeated Florida 35-25.

Notre Dame QB Ricky Battle won the Heisman.

In an interesting note, RB Gerald Coutts, a RB from Keene State, ran for over 2000 yards and was a Heisman finalist. Gerald was in my last recruiting class at KSC.

I voted for him out of sentimentality.
