AL Post WWII scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning with 2 runs on 2 hits. After two were out Mickey Mantle initiated the scoring when he cracked a solo homerun (his 11th of the season). By surrending 2 runs in 2/3 of an inning his ERA jumped from 2.95 to 3.79. 'Now there is a lesson in perseverance for you,' Mantle noted. 'It was looking pretty dim there for a while, but we just kept plugging away and it really paid off in spades! And it was great to see the crowd go crazy there at the end!'
