Although hand cannons had been developed by China in the 12th century and had spread to Europe by the 14th, the weakness of the weapons reduced their battlefield utility. Light and reliable Arquebus was able to displace bow due to three main factors. It had better armor penetration, it was easier to train men to use it, and it did not rely on the strength of the user.

All cavalry units are being upgraded and retrained as Stratioti.

The King is Dead – King Vakhtang IV (Ruled from January 1433 – November 1489)
A kingdom mourns! King Vakhtang IV has passed away at the age of 77! A truly great leader for the annals of Georgian history, King Vakhtang oversaw major expansion through Circassian and Gazikumukhan lands, not to mention the vassalization of Crimea and Theodoro. He forged relationships and royal marriages with Muscovy, Lithuania, Poland and Hungary.

His legacy is one that will echo through eternity. Long may he be remembered, centuries after his reign!

Regency
King Vakhtang IV has died a little too soon. His heir, Vakhtang V is not quite ready to assume the role of monarch. A Regency Council from the upper nobility now rules our nation.

As such, our mission to claim Cafa has failed and our stability has dropped to 0.

Marriages
We have renewed royal vows with Hungary, Muscovy and our vassal Theodoro.

Our ties with Poland and Lithuania have been severed, giving us two extra diplomatic slots to use. We shall now search for new allies.

Improve relations with Castile. We have sent a diplomat to Castile to see if we can secure a marriage and alliance with the Spanish. They currently hold personal unions over both Naples and Aragon and are allied with Portugal and Venice.

While we're at it, we've sent a diplomat to Golden Horde to fabricate a claim on Manych.

Event: Education for a King
The tragic passing of the previous King has left Vakhtang Bagrationi without a parent, but not without guardians or tutors. Advisors serving our court are preoccupied with giving him the best education available in preparation of ruling Georgia. Hoping to gain favor and influence in the future, many people try to serve as a primary influence. Ultimately, one of them is likely to succeed, impacting the sort of ruler Vakhtang will turn out to be.

The military advisor will be working closely with the future king and his military skills have increased.

Event: Noble Family Requests Aid
The most powerful of the noble families in the state often had vast wealth but that did not stop them, like their monarchs, from getting into financial troubles. They too could accumulate debts that escaped their ability to pay. They could, at those times, come to the monarch to request aid. The monarchs were often receptive since they would usually be related by blood or marriage.

The Regency has agreed to grant aid. -45.72 ducats.
