Prior to the draft, a few teams announced they would be switching Home Teams. When teams move, they do not get the new teams rookies until the end of the 2nd season.

Colorado changed to New York. (New York will receive Colorado rookies at the conclusion of 2013 season, and start receiving NY rookies at the conclusion of 2014.)
Atlanta changed to Houston.

This rule prevents teams from jumping ship, as soon as one team has a breakout rookie. They have to wait a year. Teams changing Home teams, must also wait 2 years before changing again.

The 2013 Draft had 15 teams, and as the expansion team, I would be slotted at 9. Right after the non-playoff teams, and right before the playoff teams. The non-playoff teams were in a weighted lottery, and the playoff teams were ordered worst to first, with the World Series winner picking last, and World Series runner up picking next to last.

The draft, in my opinion, wasn't very loaded, but I had a lot of needs to fill.
The league requires you to have 600 AB per position (including DH) and 1300 innings, by the end of the draft.

Just before the 3rd round of the draft, I pulled off a trade with Toronto.
I moved down a few spots, to move up 1 round later in the draft.

2013 Draft

Round 1

Philadelphia -- Bryce Harper, OF, Washington
Boston -- Yu Darvish, SP, Texas
Baltimore -- Norichika Aoki, OF, Milwaukee
Seattle -- Brandon Moss, OF, Oakland
Miami -- Tyler Colvin, OF/1B, Colorado
San Diego -- Justin Ruggiano, OF, Miami
Kansas City -- Fernando Rodney, RP, Tampa Bay
San Francisco -- Matt Harvey, SP, New York(NL)
St. Louis -- Jonathon Niese, SP, New York(NL)
Oakland -- Chris Johnson, IF/RF, Arizona
Kansas City -- David Phelps, P, New York (AL)
Pittsburgh -- Chris Tillman, SP, Baltimore
New York(NL) -- Wade Miley, SP, Arizona
Houston -- Justin Maxwell, OF, Houston
Tampa Bay -- Eric Chavez, 3B/1B, New York(AL)

I just missed out on Harvey one pick earlier. In desperate need of pitching, I went with Jon Niese as my 1st round pick. I wanted to trade down, because I didn't love anyone here, but couldn't get a good offer for my pick.

Round 2

Boston -- Welington Castillo, C, Chicago(NL)
Philadelphia -- Tom Wilhelmsen, RP, Seattle
Baltimore -- Jason Castro, C, Houston
New York(NL) -- Lucas Harrell, SP, Houston
Miami -- Michael Saunders, OF, Seattle
Houston -- Wilton Lopez, RP, Houston
New York(NL) -- Mitchell Boggs, RP, St. Louis
Tampa Bay -- Everth Cabrera, IF, San Diego
St. Louis -- Jesus Montero, C, Seattle
Oakland -- Zach Cozart, SS, Cincinnati
Pittsburgh -- Roger Bernadina, OF, Washington
Pittsburgh -- Daniel Nava, OF, Boston
Tampa Bay -- Eric Young Jr, OF, Colorado
Tampa Bay -- Kevin Frandsen, 3B, Philadelphia
Miami -- Jonathan Broxton, RP, Cincinnati

Jesus Montero was a bigtime prospect for Seattle. In the 2011 MLB prospect rankings, he was #6 overall. Plus I needed a future catcher - a very hard position to fill.

Round 3

Boston -- Matt Dominguez, 3B, Houston
Philadelphia -- Jared Burton, RP, Minnesota
Baltimore -- Chris Nelson, IF, Colorado
Tampa Bay -- Wade Davis, RP, Tampa Bay
Miami -- Hisashi Iwakuma, P, Seattle
Houston -- Pedro Alvarez, 3B, Pittsburgh
Tampa Bay -- Andrew Cashner, P, San Diego
San Francisco -- Willie Bloomquist, IF/LF, Arizona
Toronto -- Erasmo Ramirez, P, Seattle
Oakland -- Aaron Crow, RP, Kansas City
Pittsburgh -- Logan Forsythe, IF, San Diego
Pittsburgh -- Martin Maldonado, C, Milwaukee
St. Louis -- Angel Pagan, CF, San Francisco
Tampa Bay -- Luis Cruz, IF, Los Angeles(NL)
Kansas City -- Austin Kearns, OF, Miami

Pagan had a really good card. Nice average, plays CF. He'd probably have gone a round or 2 higher, except he is 30 years old.

Round 4

Boston -- Mike Fiers, SP, Milwaukee
Philadelphia -- Andres Torres, OF, New York(NL)

Seattle -- Mark Ellis, 2B, Los Angeles(NL)
Kansas City -- Bartolo Colon, SP, Oakland
Houston -- Robbie Ross, RP, Texas

Casilla was a solid MR.

Houston -- Trevor Plouffe, IF/OF, Minnesota
Pittsburgh -- Darin Mastroianni, OF, Minnesota
Tampa Bay -- James McDonald, SP, Pittsburgh
San Francisco -- Brandon Crawford, SS, San Francisco
San Diego -- Jerry Blevins, RP, Oakland

Round 6

Boston -- David Cooper, 1B, Toronto
Philadelphia -- Joe Blanton, SP, Los Angeles(NL)
Baltimore -- Jim Henderson, RP, Milwaukee
New York(NL) -- Mike Baxter, OF, New York(NL)
Miami -- Brayan Pena, C, Kansas City
Houston -- Devin Mesoraco, C, Cincinnati
New York(NL) -- Tyler Moore, 1B/OF, Washington
San Francisco -- Bronson Arroyo, SP, Cincinnati

Pittsburgh -- Brett Wallace, IF, Houston
Pittsburgh -- Brayan Villareal, RP, Detroit
Miami -- Chris Volstad, SP, Chicago(NL)
San Diego -- Justin Turner, IF, New York(NL)

Took a gamble on Peralta, because I needed a full-time SS, and Peralta had showed some power in the past. His average was very low though, and he was a 4e? at SS.
