I received several Cardinals rookies, upon conclusion of the 2013 season.
These include: SP/RP Michael Wacha, SP Shelby Miller, RP Kevin Siegrist, 1B Matt Adams, Closer Trevor Rosenthal. (There were several other unnotable names, but all were cut)

2014 Offseason Begins

Prior to the World Series, all non-playoff teams are thrown into a weighted lottery for the 1st Round of the 2014 Draft. I was drawn first, and so would get the #1 pick.

My eye was on one player - Yasiel Puig, OF, Dodgers

My Roster upon ending the 2013 Offseason looks like this.

Batter (16)
C - Alex Avila, Jesus Montero
1B - Michael Cuddyer, Matt Adams
2B - Dan Uggla, Joaquin Arias
SS - Mike Aviles, Jhonny Peralta
3B - Matt Carpenter, Ryan Flaherty
LF - Ryan Ludwick, Nate McLouth
CF - Michael Bourn, Angel Pagan
DH - Adam Dunn, Michael Morse

Pitcher (22)

SP - Mark Buehrle
SP - Jonathon Niese
SP - Jason Hammel
SP - Aaron Harang
SP - Joe Kelly
SP - Joe Saunders
SP - Henderson Alvarez
SP - Luis Mendoza
SP - Jason Vargas
SP - Jose Quintana
SP - Dan Straily
SP - Jacob Turner
SP - Shelby Miller
SP/RP - Michael Wacha
SP/RP - Josh Collmenter
SP/RP - Hector Santiago
RP - Boone Logan
RP - Santiago Casilla
RP - Tim Collins
RP - Dave Robertson
RP - Kevin Siegrist
CL - Trevor Rosenthal

The following players did not accumulate 30 IP, or 100 AB, so are considered uncarded. Uncarded players can be kept for free for 1 year, without costing a roster spot.
Uncarded Players:
RP - Javy Guerra
SP - Jeff Karstens
RP - Eric O'Flaherty
1B - Bryan LaHair
3B - Scott Moore

Offseason Trades

10/10/13
In need of some help at 3B, we complete a trade with Baltimore
Bal receives: 3rd round pick
StL receives: 3B David Freese, 6th round pick.

Freese was coming off an off year, but I felt he had some bounce back potential.

12/16/13
We add more help at 3B, acquiring a veteran LH bat that can hit righties.
TB receives: 6th round pick
StL receives: 3B Eric Chavez, 6th round pick

2/5/14
We add some catching help
Mia receives: Houston's 3rd round pick
StL receives: C Jarrod Saltalamacchia, 7th round pick

I have to then cut down to 25, and our roster shapes up a bit more, as we head into the Waiver Draft

Unfortunately, I had to cut both my 1st and 2nd round picks from the previous year.
I hate that these high picks became "wasted", but I just couldn't find room to keep them, unless I gave up on some of my pitching prospects (Turner, Santiago).
