Hello folks!

I hope that you are having an awesome day today! I wanted to take on a challenge that I had never attempted before. I checked to see if the next FOF was coming out anytime soon, and the latest update over at OOTP is no. Right now, best guess is late Summer or Fall.

So let’s do my challenge now!

What I am aiming to do with this dynasty is simple. I want to marry the traditional FOFC empty cupboard challenge with the idea that I can only use players that I draft.

Now a lot of players will use the empty cupboard concept of dumping their team and cash in order to start afresh. They’ll bring in free agents they can sign and then build up from draft and FA over time. That’s a fun way to play!

I don’t just want to do that.

Here are the rules for my dynasty, with the various caveats below.


1. I will cut every player currently on the team I select

2. I am not a coach, just a GM. I will not set up game plans, calls plays, or such. That is not my role.

3. I will never sign a player in free agency
a. With these potential exceptions
i. If I need a player on my roster due to injuries during the season.
ii. If I need a specialist that is not otherwise available, such as a long snapper.
iii. I am allowed to resign someone who is officially one of “My Guys”. See below
iv. I am allowed, and encouraged, to sign undrafted Free Agents. See below.

4. I will only draft and sign Undrafted free agents as the exclusive method of player acquisition for my roster. I will not trade for, or sign someone.
a. Once I have brought someone into my squad, there are one of My Guys, and I can always bring back one of my guys in a later free agency period.
i. For example. Suppose I have three solid OTs. I can’t keep them, so I let the 4th year one go in free agency. Three years later, one of my OTs has just retired, and there in the FA pool is my old one starting back at me. I can resign him to my club. He’s one of my people!
ii. I should aim to resign my people without letting them go into FA.
iii. I will try to keep draft manipulation to a minimum. If someone offers me a trade, sure!
iv. Within these rules, I am free to do whatever I want. Franchise tag? Sure! They are my people afterall!

5. I am going to fast sim the first season, and then cut everyone. We are using the real player file, real coaches, I am definitely fire-able

6. I am going to have a realistic slate of coaches, and not just let folks go because better ones are available. I will stick with a winning coach, or coordinator.
