Steve Victory JOURNAL – NCT Round of 64, 2015

Here’s the patchwork lineup Victory assembles for the NCT opener:

• PG Erazem Lekivicius (his first game back since breaking his arm)
• SG Travis Williams (normally a reserve SF but has made most of his chance to start)
• SF Brett Fischer (taking over for Bliss, he was a non-starter much of the year)
• PF Josiah Parker (only starter to avoid the injury bug all year)
• C Craig King (a 7-foot-1 foul machine who occasionally scores or gets a rebound – Auburn fans call him the biggest waste of space in the SEC. Victory quietly agrees).

It’s not pretty but Victory does get his first ever NCT victory in the opener. Alabama slogs by Alcorn State 80-68. Travis Williams shines the brightest, leading the Tide with 16 points in 26 minutes of play.

But guess what? Williams – continuing with recent tradition – breaks his ankle early in the second half. He, too, is out the rest of the way. That’s three players lost to major injury in three consecutive games.

The Alabama sniper lives on…
