When I'm talking about bad money spent here's what I'm talking about:

4 of the top 5 paid players were 38 or 39. All were injury prone and only 1 of those was likely to even have any kind of impact on the season.

The team had some decent arms in the bullpen, but the starters were rough. The top pitcher had carried the team for a couple of years, but was injured most of the previous. There was no help to be found in the free agent pool.

In the field no real dominating player stood out and there's nothing to get excited about.

In the minors and international developmental there was a grand total of 1 high level prospect. A young starter who was a former 1-1 pick. That's pretty much it. A decent team with a number of glaring holes and an owner who's last GM clearly was wasting a lot of his money. At least in all of this I have an owner who is willing to spend some money. Too bad there's really nobody to spend it on.
