I have a client that has not spent one single dime on television advertising in a year. He released funds to do so on Wednesday, the day after the election.
Also, the question as asked (per gallup.com) is
Gallup tracks daily the percentage of Americans who think that
economic conditions in the country as a whole are
"getting better" or "getting worse."
Not "the economy" but "economic conditions". So the rationale I mentioned is perfectly valid. Attitudes & expectations
are an aspect of "economic conditions".
