I head to the free agency marke tot see who is there as a patch for my team. Players entering their 4th year who were on 3 year rookie contracts are RFAs and only enter the market now, if they have not been retained by their team. You can also find some decent post-camp cuts at times, or a player who might have sneaked through FA may still be there.
Until I see him…while trying to find players to smooth my roster, I see a player let go by another team. A player in his 4th year, whose contract ran out and was too expensive too keep, but because he was an RFA he did not come available until now.
The salvation of my new franchise is at hand.
