In my wildest imagination I can't see where firing the writing staff (and especially one that has made questionable contributions compared to the key person who remains) is going to affect the length of their order.
Unless someone at the network had at least two close relatives included in the group of castoffs, this is barely newsworthy as far as Season Two goes.
