2014 ROSTER SHAPING
BEGINNING CAP SITUATION
SALARY CAP: $159.4M
ROOM UNDER CAP: $38.6M
MAX FOR NEW PLAYER: $30.95M
INJURY UPDATES FROM LAST SEASON
LDE Freddie Cox took a big ratings hit all the way down to 25/34.
SS Winston Giangrave also dropped quite a lot, down to 44/44.
LCB Marcus Woodson and FB Darnell Keys return to full ratings strength.
FRANCHISE PLAYER
I use the franchise tag on RDE Ray Antel.
KEY FREE AGENTS/RESTRICTED PLAYERS FROM MY TEAM
K Dexter Everett is a two-time all-pro with 88/94 ratings, but he wants an average of nearly $6.5M per year. I doubt I'll be able to afford that much of a cap hit.
TE Kenny Malfara is out the door, as Gilbert Woodyard is pretty much just as good, and cheaper.
RG Nick Weber had a pretty solid year, and wants a decent-sized contract for the next 5 seasons. He may or may not be back.
LDE Cox isn't looking good after his injury, and backup Doug Cochrane is a FA He'd come cheap if I decide to stick with him.
LDT Dixon Mahoney keeps on making plays, and is now a mentor. His salary request is fairly modest (around $7M per year). He'll probably get an offer from me.
SLB Kendrick O' Neal will be allowed to go elsewhere, as 3rd-year man Chester Adderley looks ready to step in and start now.
RCB Devin Withers is an RFA. He gets re-signed after his very good year last year.

POSITIONS I'D LIKE TO FILL/UPGRADE: RG, K, LDE, LDT
CUTS
SS Winston Giangrave--We save $2M in cap room by by cutting him, not to mention the big salary savings.
SIGNINGS
LDT Dixon Mahoney--6.0--3yrs/$21M--He was the best DT available, and he's been with us from day 1.
K Leroy Matsko--8.0--4ys/$10.5M--He's been a solid kicker for 5 seasons, with a 77.8 FG Pct.
LDE Ken Logan--4.4--2yrs/$6M--Mediocre guy who'll start at LDE unless we draft someone better.
RG Nick Weber--5.4--5yrs/$45M--Hasn't missed a single game in four years in the league, and has a career 38.4 KRBPct.
WHERE OUR KEY GUYS WENT
TE Kenny Malfara signed with San Fran for 3yrs/$26.89M.
SLB Kendrick O'Neal is now a Green Bay Packer, at the cost of $19.68M over 3 years.

PICKS
I have the following picks: 1(25), 2(3), 2(25), 3(25), 4(25), 5(25), 7(25)
NEEDS
My #1 need is to improve at LDE. Behind that, finding the next QB would be very nice. Then, I'm starting to get old (10yr vets) at a few positions, and could therefore use young starters-to-be at TE, LG and LDT

None.
DECREASES OF NOTE
Boy. That was a bad draft. Urbanus is down to 25/53. Barker is 25/46. Griffith is 6/33...and no draftee gained points.
