2016 PRESEASON/FINAL CUTS/OUTLOOK

PRESEASON INJURIES OF NOTE
SE Sammie Farrell got hurt in the penultimate preseason game, with Repetitive Concussion Syndrome. He's listed as Out for 90 weeks. His career is in jeopardy..

FINAL CUTS

QB Pat Webb

QB Will Dawson

RB Blake Van Lanen

RB Mickey Orlando

FB Jim Hughes

TE Daryl Prior

RT Chester Sinco

NEW STARTERS THIS YEAR

LG Gabe Lemons--Second-year man will start until Harry Mayes (12 wks) recovers.

LDE Deron Mirkovich--Part-time as a rookie last year. Full-time now.

WLB Austin Farrell--1st-round pick gets the start.

FS Kirk Peterson--He had taken over for Kris Colon by midseason last year, but deserves a mention on this list.

REGULAR SEASON OUTLOOK

POWER RATING: 68. 2nd-best in NFC, behind New York (79).
ROSTER: 100. The Giants are at 91.

DIVISION RIVALS

(LAST YEAR'S RECORD IN PARENTHESIS)

CAROLINA (11-5)--They signed a 77/77 Center, giving them a very strong offensive line across the board. J.J. Robinson's ratings dropped to 52/52, though, and the defense looks vulnerable. They look to be primed to get knocked off their pedestal.

NEW ORLEANS (7-9)--Their young defense continues to improve, but the offense starts no one rated 60 or better.

TAMPA BAY (10-6))--They're going to have no running game to speak of, but Jason Raymond is one of the best QB's in the business, and he has two good young targets, a TE and FL. On defense, they may be weak agaisnt the pass, as they'll start THREE rookies in the secondary.

DIVISION PREDICTION

Atlanta 11-5

Carolina 10-6 (WC)

Tampa Bay 8-8

New Orleans 6-10
