I actually feel pretty bad for the guy. I think he's in over his head. He didn't really have a plan offensively, defensively, or on special teams. As I recall, he was all for letting me do the double wing with him from day one. I had little doubt that we'd be running my defense shortly thereafter before I took over my own team.
For me, I had been getting ready, preparing for the opportunity if it came up. There wasn't a question of what I'd do, just how I'd do it.
Steve ended up drafting a few kids with dads that have coached in the past. He basically handed them the ball as far as offense and defense. I think he's regretting that now.
