We open our season in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where we run out to a comfortable victory over Rice in the opening round of the Paradise Shootout. We're up 64-29 at halftime.

I'm posting the box score so you can see how today's rotation works. I'd say it works well, wouldn't you?

Our 22 steals are a new program record. John Cannon contributes 6 of these, along with the career-high 28 points he scores off the bench.
Record: 1-0.

Paradise Shootout Semifinal
(1) #1 Villanova 76, (5) Florida State 51

This game looks a lot different from the Rice game, but the result's still very pleasant. Again, we keep our opponent from doing the things they want to do.

John Cannon leads us in scoring again, finishing with 24 points and 4 assists. Israel Moody adds 18 with 4 steals and 3 blocks; Chris Wilson scores 14, takes down 9 rebounds, and blocks another 5 shots. Kai Smith finishes with 7 assists, Nick Spencer 5 with 3 steals.
Record: 2-0.

Washington State upset Wake Forest and Mississippi State to earn a spot in the Shootout final. At halftime, we lead by only three points (40-37), but we play much better during the second 20 minutes and win the tournament trophy.

Chris Wilson and Israel Moody have no problems scoring against the WSU players who try to guard them.

On the other hand, we shoot threes like it's last year; our 3-for-14 includes a pair from walk-on Nick O'Brien. I might have to restrict our players' tendency to jack up three-pointers again this season.
Record: 3-0.
