Well, the biggest moves are at right midfield, as we bring in two key acquisitions, the biggest of which is 22 year old Wonderkid Andoni (3.0/3.5), a player I’ve long admired. He’s an incredibly versatile player, with the ability to play in central midfield and in an attacking midfield role and I hope he can grow into a fine footballer here at Dover.

The 25 year old Leandro Cepeda (3.0/3.0) will provide able cover at right midfield behind Andoni - he is very skilled and has great pace and should work well in our system.

Veteran Dario Galeano (2.5/2.5) is simply a depth acquisition at this point and will be hard pressed to get a lot of playing time with Mads Pedersen and Wonderkid Jonathan Langlet in front of him.

My cheapest acquisition may be the most exciting, as 26 year old Doctor Ndulula (3.5/3.5) is one of the fine young strikers in the game and I was somehow able to scoop him on a free due to an expiring contract with Le Mans. He’s big and has decent speed and should immediately step in as our immediate backup at the holding striker position behind Fernando Estrada.

We also brought in young Luis Monzon (2.0/2.5) on loan for the year, just to give us some additional depth at striker. I expect he’ll spend most of his time here with our reserves.

As you can see, it was a busy season acquiring young talent. All of the players I spent money on have at least 3 star potentials and will help our consistently strong U18 team dominate once again. The free transfers essentially are just roster filler for the U18s but there are a couple of interesting players in there, including John Backhouse (1.0/3.0).

Final Thoughts Before the Season Begins

Last year was more about transitioning to a younger core and we accomplished our goals there while still winning the Premier League by seven points. We have an entirely new set of players at right midfield but other than that, we are going with the same players that started last year.

Fabinho will get every chance to take over the majority of playing time in goal but English international Chris Davies will likely have something to say about that! On defence, the most interesting battle will take place at DR, where one of Rodolfo Lopez, Emerson or young Eneko Remirez will try to take over for our former captain Salim Loucif. Andoni will join incumbents Mads Pedersen, Neil Cairney and Benedikt Raab in the midfield and we’ll hope for healthy, productive seasons from forwards Paul Moses and Fernando Estrada.

Paul Moses gets the honour of taking over the captaincy from the departing Chiquinho and moving into the vice-captain role is fullback Renato Gaucho.

We’d have a light preseason, gaining six wins and a tie from our seven games but for a THIRD straight year, we’d lose in the season-opening Community Shield, again dropping the contest to rivals Manchester City at Wembley on penalties.

As usual, we’ll continue to go with a flat 4-4-2 with a control mentality for most of our games, sprinkling in the odd 4-2-3-1 formation along the way.

Fernando Estrada and Claudio Contreras were away on international duty to start the season so we were missing one of our key players to begin the domestic campaign.

Here is our starting lineup for game one of the 2028-29 season, where we look to win our fourth consecutive Premier League title.

GK - Chris Davies
D - Renato Gaucho - Mwemere Mutesa - Herman Quattara - Rodolfo Lopez
M - Neil Cairney - Benedikt Raab
AM -Mads Pedersen - Andoni - Leandro Cepeda
ST - Paul Moses
