--Jimmy Hart comes out with King Kong Bundy and Buzz Sawyer and is interviewed by Lance Russell. Hart wants Eddie Marlin to come out. He asks Marlin why King Kong Bundy has not received his Mid-America title shot and Cooley defended the belt this past Saturday against Leroy Brown. Marlin agrees with Hart and tells Hart that Bundy will receive his title shot on Saturday’s TV show because of Bundy’s participation in the King of Kings battle royal on Thursday night. (C, 62)

--Jerry Stubbs def. Troy Graham w/Jimmy Hart in 5:40 by submission after a Figure Four Leglock. (C, 59)

--Lance Russell interviews Wendell Cooley about Eddie Marlin’s announcement that he must defend the Mid-America title against Bundy this Saturday. Cooley accepts the challenge ahead of him and that he expects the masked man to show up, if he has the guts. (C, 65)

--Jimmy Valiant def. Phil Hickerson in 6:42 by pinfall after a Boogie Woogie Elbow Drop. (C, 60)

--Randy Savage def. Bobby Fulton in 6:52 by pinfall after a flying elbow drop. (C+, 70) After the match, Savage says that Bill Dundee’s win over him this past Saturday was the biggest fluke in the history of wrestling. He promises Dundee he will be coming for him during King of Kings. (B, 81)

--Steve Williams def. Sabu the Wildman in 7:47 by pinfall after an Oklahoma Stampede. (B-, 75)

--Jerry Lawler and Bill Dundee come out to hype their match with the Midnight Express, saying that they’ve won the Southern tag team titles three times and don’t be surprised if number four is tonight. Jim Cornette comes out with the Midnight Express and argues with Lawler and Dundee with Cornette telling Lawler he needs to be worried about defending the Southern heavyweight title against Dennis Condrey. (B, 82)

AWA Southern Tag Team Title Match
--Jerry Lawler and Bill Dundee def. The Midnight Express w/Jim Cornette by disqualification in 11:47 when Randy Savage and Manny Fernandez attacked Dundee and Lawler. (B, 81)

--The beatdown continued until Cornette landed tennis racket shots on the heads of Lawler and Dundee. (B, 80) The Midnight Express retain their titles on a disqualification.

Post Show Notes

--A solid card for a Mid-South region show. The show rating was lower than usual compared to our recent outings. Still, I’ll settle for a B show outside our home region. Hopefully, this will be a nice lead-in for Thursday night’s big event.
