Today, we play at UT-Arlington. They are 8-6 and slightly more talented than we are. Their offense is slightly worse than ours and they don't have great outside shooters except for SG Marquez Haynes, but their defense is slightly better than ours. They have much better team unity and should be a tough matchup at their place.

Wow. Everything went right for us in the first half as our offense really clicked and their offense didn't. It didn't hurt that their best inside scorers both got into foul trouble within the first 4 minutes as Lloyd drew early fouls. It did come at a price as he also got into foul trouble, but Czepil, Newton, and Boyce all stepped up.

We are up 39-22 at the half. Haynes is their leading scorer with 8. Czepil is our leading scorer with 9. Lloyd has 9. Newton has 9 and Boyce has 6. They are 2 of 12 behind the arc with Haynes hitting their only 2 3's. He is 2 of 4 behind the arc.

Everything goes right in the 2nd half too as Czepil is on fire. We bench our starters with a 30 point lead and 5 minutes to go. Czepil has 31 points.

A surprising 88-53 win that was triggered by Lloyd's dominance inside and his getting their inside players into foul trouble.

Still Czepil gets the glory and the player of the game. He scored 31 points on 11 of 13 shooting including 6 of 7 behind the arc (most of those on assists that were directly or indirectly related to double teams on Lloyd down low) and he was 3 of 4 from the line. He also had 3 assists, 1 steals, and 1 board.

Bose had another solid game with 8 points (on 2 of 6 shooting), 8 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals, and suffocating defense. Lloyd finished with 15 points, 6 boards, 6 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. He shot 7 of 10. Newton had 10 points off the bench. Boyce had 11 points in his first game back in the starting lineup.

Today we play at 2-8 Lamar. We win 78-57, but we lose Bose to a back strain. He'll be out 2-3 weeks. Czepil lead the team with 19 points on 5 of 11 shooting including 4 of 8 behind the arc. Johnson had 11 points and 10 points off the bench. Newton had 8 points with the increased playing time.

We are now 8-3.

Our next game is hosting 5-5 Central Arkansas. They are very close to us in talent level with no real difference in overall team talent. Their only dangerous player from outside the arc is PG MArcus Pillow. He is their best midrange shooter as well. Chris Brown, their PF, is a good inside scorer, but he is small and Lloyd should be able to defend him.
