A competitive first half in which each team had a run ends with a 33-32 lead for Lamar. Bose is our leading scorer with 10. Lloyd had 6 points and 5 boards. Harper, their PG, has 9 to lead them.

A great 14-0 run for us midway through the 2nd half built us a lead that we never relinquished. They cut it as low as 6 several times including the end of the game where they fouled us and we missed quite a few FT's. By the way, Rjolley, this team was shooting very quick 3's (sometimes to their detriment as they weren't all great looks) with the time running low.

We win 74-67 as I never really felt threatened after that run. We shot 53% as a team this game including 10 of 22 from the arc. During the 14-0 run we hit 3 3's in a row at one point.

Lloyd was the player of the game. He finished with 17 points, 11 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal, and a block. He shot 6 of 7 and 5 of 9 from the line. Bose had 18 points on 7 of 12 shooting including 2 of 4 from the arc. He also had 5 boards, 3 assists, and a steal. Spencer had 16 points and 3 boards. He shot 7 of 15 including 2 of 6 behind the arc. Johnson had 8 points and 9 boards. Bakari Lewis had 7 points and 7 assists with the hot shooting team around him. One of our best games of the year and I wonder if we can build on it.

I have to think that Spencer is in the running for Conference Freshman of the Year. He is averaging 10.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg, and 0.8 spg. The next best statistical freshman in the conference is Rodolfo Benjamin a 6'5 200 pound SF for Texas State who is averaging 7 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.5 apg, and 1.3 bpg.

Jan 29 -

We play 5-10 Northwestern State at their place. They are more talented than we are, but they are struggling as they don't have a lot of outside shooting either. We win 82-69. Joshua Johnson had a HUGE game with 22 points, 14 boards, 5 steals, 3 assists, and 2 blocks. He shot 7 of 15, 1 of 3 from the arc, and 7 of 9 from the line. Martin had 16 off the bench and Spencer was our third leading scorer with 12 points, 7 boards, and 1 steal.

We are now 10-8. Our next game is at Texas State. They are 8-9. They are ranked 73 in team talent. Their offense is rated 76 and their shooting is 81 compared to ours which is 76. Our rebounding is 77 compared to theirs at 73. I'll play that game tomorrow.
