I think someone mentioned it earlier, but it explained why Highgarden went with Renly in the rebellion and how Cersei used Loras to take one of the castles. (I forget which one, and whether it was to free a Lannister or to capture a bastard). I think it also played a part in why Highgarden took the side of the Lannisters (also with Margery's engagement to Joffory) and not to the Starks when Brienne went in the employ of Cate.
