2 - Bleh.
0-2
5 -
Reid has to come off with injury.
Harris to MR and
Hoban in at ML.
30 - What's that? A first half hat trick? Yeah.
0-3
36 -
Hoban hits
Clowes for a header on a corner, but it's not anything worth hyping about, especially since
Hoban gave away possession to lead to that last goal.
1-3
45 - Pile on, why don't we?
1-4
53 - Guess who's getting benched next game?
1-5
59 -
Guedioura on for
Geynrih
Yeah this was probably the worst performance ever. Just awful all around.
Good Trains
Callum McNish
Sergio Sanchez
Samuel Bangura
Bad Trains
Max Crocombe
Loss of $27k last month and
Samuel Bangura is getting blasted for his recent play, which is understandable - he's sporting a 5.9 over the last several games.
Alexandr Geynrih has international duties again. We find a goalie who's so far ahead of everyone else on our squad it's incredible and we'd love to sign him, but will the board swing for it even though we're over budget?
...Yes, yes they will. While we wait to hear back,
Oldham fires its manager, and good riddance to him, as they're dead last in League 2 at the moment.

28 - Beautiful free kick by
Barnum-Bobb to
McNish, who centers it to
Geynrih for the score and early lead!
1-0
I'm really impressed with how our defensive line has bounced back from the ghastly showing last game.
Yiadom moves up to MR and I'm going to give
Bangura another chance to prove himself by putting him in at DR.
60 - A failed corner sees
Geynrih take the ball and run horizontally towards the right flank, whereupon he crosses it back to
Taaffe, and boom goes the dynamite!
2-0
75 -
Clowes hits a rocket shot that bounces off
Taaffe, who turns around and does a slide tackle back pass to
Martin. Long-range shot? No problem! It's his first goal of the year.
3-0
81 -
Bangura knocks it to
Taaffe who can't control it and has to kick it back out to him on the wing. No problem here either, as
Bangura boots it into the six yard box, where
Geynrih beats the defense for another goal. That's one way to get back in good graces.
4-0
8.0 for
Sharpe, 8.2 for
Clowes, 8.1 for
Martin, 8.5 for
McNish, 8.3 for
Taaffe, 9.4 for PotM
Geynrih. What an incredible bounceback against a team nobody thought we could beat.
In what I think is the third time this season, our opponent fires their manager immediately after losing to us.
We get our goalie, snapping up 21 year old Welshman
Luke Chambers on a deal through 2019 that pays him $48.5k base with 10% raises and way too much money. He was a backup goalie for
Southend last season before they relegated and didn't look so hot there, but his potential says he can be elite at this level.
Luke Chambers struggled in a 2-3 loss to England, but
Alexandr Geynrih notched 2 assists and an 8.1 rating in a friendly against India that ended in a 4-1 scoreline.

Taaffe's thunderous crack is deflected by the goalie, but that leaves him out of position and
Harris has just enough pace to win the race and put in the chip shot.
1-0
35 - Knock for
Guedioura
44 - Knock for
Clowes and
Harris picks up a yellow
Play on, boys. Play on.
45 - Wow. Now
Crocombe is knocked.
71 - Disallowed goal due to
Crocombe getting fouled.
Sanchez, who I forgot to put back in the starting lineup, goes on for
Clowes.
Ugly win, but we'll take it.
Nabil Guedioura is out 3 to 4 weeks, which further decimates our weak striker situation.

70 -
Hoban on for
McNish
78 - Injury for
Clowes
To be honest, I didn't expect to win this one. We were on the road and pretty weak at striker.
Luke Chambers impressed in a 4-1 victory over Iceland's U-21s, but
Alexandr Geynrih had one of his worst games ever in a 0-0 draw with
China, but that still leaves
Uzbekistan on top in their group and with a commanding lead.
Wales, on the other hand, failed to get their U-21 team out of group qualifying,
England and
Romania advancing instead.

Harrogate offers to take
Max Crocombe on loan for 3 months and pay 100% of his salary. We'll take that. Other teams make offers to pay for less than 100% of wages, which is unacceptable.

20 - Bullshit disallowed goal. No way
Geynrih was offsides. In the next breath,
Chambers shows why we pay him the big money by making an insane save after a terrible
Clowes pass. Wow!
30 - Butter-smooth pass from
Geynrih to
Taaffe, who gets the excuse me bump off the upright for the goal.
1-0
67 -

70 - Yellow for

79 -

It was that kind of game where
Bangura's 7.9 wins Player of the Match. It wasn't pretty, but 3 points is 3 points, and through 17 games, we have 27 points, which puts us 5th. Drop zone is 17/14/13 at 22/23/24 even though only 23 and 24 drop, but 23, which just fired their manager (
Bury), has a game in hand. There's no easy outs in League 2, put it that way.
Max Crocombe takes the loan agreement from
Harrogate and our wage bill thanks us, though we're still something $26k over it.
