Yes, I think its about $500 a year to participate in the live stuff. Family can share one bike.
That's the angle, to compete with others. I'm not sure that would work for me but know that would work for my wife. She runs half and full marathons and signs up for the 5K and 10K. She also used to do Tri's (amateur level, not the ironman level).
So after the initial investment, it would come out to be $42 a month.
