Harrisburg (2-1, 0-0) at Allentown (0-3, 0-0)

It's time for conference play, and we're slight favorites away to Allentown this week. They have struggled to move the ball this year, so our beleaguered defense could get a bit of a break.

Injury Report
QB Leon Donovan tore ligaments in his knee, and his season is over. Vernon Schulz (FR/Lansing, MI), who has completed two of seven passes in very limited action this year, is now QB1.

And your final score: Allentown 37, Harrisburg 10

All Allentown's offense needed was the chance to play against Harrisburg. They ripped us for over 400 yards of total offense, running and passing with equal ease. Schulz endured a nightmarish day (7-18-49 passing, 3 INT) and the Allentown defense contained Ethan Sweeney (11-31 rushing).

Offensive Standout
RB Bobby Schmidt (6-75 rushing, TD)

Defensive Standout
LB Jared Cole (18 tackles, 2 TFL)

Recruiting News

Hello!

FB Jared McGarrahan (Troy, PA/Troy Area HS)
WR Cornelius Ricks (Berlin, PA/Valley Brothers HS)

We were due for some good news this week, weren't we? McGarrahan is a big, strong, old-fashioned fullback who can run, catch, and block. He caught 43 passes, good for seven touchdowns, as a senior, and rushed for nearly 500 yards. He's ranked #2 among Pennsylvania fullbacks. We like Jared's 3.71 GPA and 1460 test score.

I'm delighted to welcome Ricks to Harrisburg. He's the #12 receiver in the nation, and the #12 player in Pennsylvania. He hauled in 63 passes for over 1500 yards and 10 touchdowns this year. I can tell you right now that we'll be looking to replace the Power I with a formation that will put the ball in Cornelius's hands more often. The complete package, Ricks boasts a perfect 4.00 GPA, a 1280 SAT score, and an Excellent attitude.

So far, nobody we're recruiting has signed with anyone else. That will probably change, however, as several players on our list have been courted by their favorite schools, or by programs that can offer what we do...only better.

A player we just began recruiting is visiting us:
  • S Michael Oreck

He's a highly-touted player out of Michigan who wants to attend a top academic school, but no suitable program had recruited him yet. Perhaps we can lure him our way. We need a safety, and neither of the players we've been recruiting from the start are showing interest.
