Another thing people don't seem to realize, I think, is how much larger most athletes are than the average person.
Take Jordan, he was never a "big" by any sense of the word ... and he's 6' 6".
I had that revelation driven home years ago when I discovered I shopped in the same record store as Dominique Wilkins. I bumped into him (literally), turning right into a very minor collision. I barely cleared his belly button and I'm 6' even.
