1 feature game to tell you about this week, and it comes out of Conference USA.

1/22/20- Houston (Al Mighty) @ Marshall (Thomas Magnum) -- A definite classic, as Houston led by 11 at halftime, but Marshall came storming back to take the lead with 2 seconds to go. Houston got a got look at the basket to win it, but fell just short.

Final Score: Marshall- 75, Houston- 74

Al Mighty (Houston)- started game, 35 mins played, 25 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals.
Thomas Magnum (Marshall)- started game, 25 mins played, 21 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists.

And now for the rest of the weekly recap:

RS SR C Jace Hunter (#14 Xavier) -- 16-3, 3-1 Atlantic 10.

1/22/20 at UMass (W 90-79), started game, 34 mins played, 11 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks, (Double-double).
1/25/20 at Richmond (W 79-67), started game, 37 mins played, 19 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 blocks, 2 steals, (Double-double), (POTG).

Jace had a quiet double-double at UMass, and a much louder double-double at Richmond. Great week: 2 games, 2 double-doubles, 1 POTG. Can you say lottery pick?

RS SR PG Randy Rodgers (Auburn) -- 12-6, 3-1 SEC.

1/21/20 at #6 Tennessee (W 73-62), started game, 31 mins played, 10 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal.)

Randy had a nice game in the Tigers' only game of the week, a huge upset for Auburn. Still would hope to see him getting more dimes consistently though.

RS SR PF Ivan Carrillo (Arizona State) -- 8-9, 3-4 Pac 10.

1/23/20 vs. #19 Stanford (W 75-63), started game, 29 mins played, 10 points, 9 rebounds, 1 block.
1/25/20 vs. California (L 70-60), started game, 11 mins played, 5 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 1 steal.

Foul trouble limited Ivan against Cal, and really hurt the team. In 11 minutes he put up good numbers, think what triple those minutes and numbers would have done for his team.

RS JR SF Chester Smith (#9 Maryland) -- 14-4, 2-2 ACC.

1/22/20 vs. Miami (L 83-80), came off bench, 16 mins played, 4 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, 1 steal.
1/25/20 vs. Virginia Tech (W 94-62), came off bench, 6 mins played, 1 point, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block.

I strongly believe this has the potential to be Chester's team next season. When he gets decent minutes, he can put up some major stats, as evidence in his time against Miami. Just too much talent on this squad, and Chester hasn't reached his potential yet.

RS JR PG Al Mighty (Houston) -- 8-10, 2-2 Conference USA.

1/22/20 at Marshall- feature game, highlighted above.
1/25/20 vs. Tulsa (W 88-85), started game, 38 mins played, 20 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals.

Solid week for Al, who had 20+ points in both his teams games this week. If there is 1 downside to his performance this week, it's the fact that he had more turnovers than assists against Tulsa. Not what you want from any PG, let alone your starting PG.

RS JR SG Ricardo Tubbs (UNLV) -- 13-6, 2-3 Mountain West.

1/21/20 at New Mexico (L 77-59), started game, 28 mins played, 18 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals.
1/25/20 at Northern Colorado (W 82-63), started game, 25 mins played, 11 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal.

Not the greatest week scoring wise for Ricardo, but then again he really doesn't shoot as much as you'd like a SG to. Foul trouble limited his minutes just a bit against Northern Colorado.

JR C Rudy Arellano (Long Beach State) -- 3-15, 1-4 Big West.

1/21/20 vs. Cal Poly (W 57-37), started game, 31 mins played, 14 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, (Double-double).
1/23/20 at Pacific (L 73-65), started game, 32 mins played, 14 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists.

Nice, solid week for Rudy, who had 14 points each game, and 9.5 rebounds a game this week. You'd still like to see him create more havoc in the paint though, defense doesn't seem to be his strength. His best defense is fouling, and he had 4 of them at Pacific. Good news.. only 1 against Cal Poly.

RS SO SF Jack Dawkins (#22 Syracuse) -- 14-4, 5-1 Big East.

1/22/20 vs. Notre Dame (W 106-75), started game, 29 mins played, 5 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal.
1/25/20 vs. #15 UConn (W 78-53), started game, 30 mins played, 15 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, (Double-double).

Good players find ways to produce in other ways when they aren't scoring, and that's what Jack did against Notre Dame. He picked up the scoring against UConn and increased the rebounding. Good week for Jack.

RS SO C Ralph King (#2 Duke) -- 15-2, 2-2 ACC.

1/22/20 at Florida State (L 94-82), started game, 29 mins played, 4 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal.
1/25/20 at Georgia Tech (L 77-67), started game, 28 mins played, 10 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists.

You'd really like to get a lot more out of your starting center, as Ralph didn't really have his best stuff this week. He did do a little better at Georgia Tech, but we can see more from him. Just a terrible week for the Blue Devils overall.

RS SO PG Benton Gale (High Point) -- 9-11, 6-3 Big South.

1/25/20 vs. Radford (L 89-70), came off bench, 10 mins played, 9 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal.

Just the 1 game this week for the Panthers, but good for Benton, as he almost averaged a point a minute. Can't ask for more than that.

RS SO PF Bam Jamison (Grambling) -- 5-13, 4-3 SWAC.

1/23/20 vs. Alabama A&M (L 60-49), came off bench, 21 mins played, 10 points, 2 rebounds.
1/25/20 vs. Alabama State (W 68-57), came off bench, 18 mins played, 4 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 block, 1 steal, (Fouled Out).

Good minutes off the bench for Bam against A&M, not so good against Alabama State. When you only play 18 minutes and foul out.. yea, not a good sign.

SO C Ariel Ginsberg (Georgetown)- academic suspension -- 15-3, 3-3 Big East.

1/22/20 vs. #15 UConn (W 82-64).
1/25/20 vs. Louisville (W 74-52).

SO SG Thomas Magnum (Marshall) -- 5-13, 2-2 Conference USA.

1/22/20 vs. Houston- feature game, highlighted above.
1/25/20 at UTEP (L 61-60), started game, 35 mins played, 18 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, (Double-double).

Can't fault Thomas for the loss to UTEP, he posted a nice double-double, and was definitely a key to the win over Houston. Well done Mr. Magnum.

SO SG Qwikshot Collins (#7 Pittsburgh) -- 15-3, 4-2 Big East.

1/22/20 vs. Providence (W 86-78), came off bench, 12 mins played, 5 points, 1 rebound.
1/25/20 at West Virginia (L 87-70), came off bench, 9 mins played, 3 points.

Well, at least he got decent minutes off the bench, and his 5 points were big against Providence. But if he wants more PT, he's going to have to learn to produce in other ways.

SO SG Jaybard Riley (#1 Michigan State) -- 19-1, 7-1 Big 10.

1/22/20 at Indiana (W 76-44), started game, 34 mins played, 9 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists, 1 block, 2 steals.
1/25/20 vs. Minnesota (W 111-75), started game, 24 mins played, 12 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 block, 1 steal.

Well, Jaybard has certainly had better scoring weeks, but remember what I said about good players contributing elsewhere? Very consistent on the boards and getting assists. Of course, the way the Spartans are playing right now, they don't need Jaybard to score a ton of points.

RS FR PG Mike Schaplowsky (Kansas State) -- 4-13, 0-4 Big 12.

1/21/20 vs. Middle Tennessee (L 80-78), DNP (Coaches Decision).
1/25/20 vs. Kansas (L 81-75), came off bench, 1 min played, 2 points.

So Mike sees action in his 3rd game of the season, logging 1 minute, scoring 2 points. Whoop di do, and K-State is terrible.

RS FR PF Path Twelve (Oregon) -- 8-10, 3-4 Pac 10.

1/23/20 at Washington (W 71-59), started game, 35 mins played, 6 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal.
1/25/20 at Washington State (L 70-56), started game, 36 mins played, 10 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist.

You'll take those kind of numbers for a starting freshman, as Path is giving the Ducks good minutes. However, he needs some help from the rest of his post players, as he keeps getting hammered every game.

FR SG Cameron Blodgett (#2 Duke) -- 15-2, 2-2 ACC.

1/22/20 at Florida State (L 94-82), started game, 31 mins played, 11 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, 1 steal.
1/25/20 at Georgia Tech (L 77-67), started game, 25 mins played, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, (Fouled Out).

A lot of 5's for Cameron at Georgia Tech, including the 5 you don't want.. fouls. Being held scoreless won't help his confidence either.

FR PG Jackson Pace (Purdue) -- 12-7, 5-4 Big 10.

1/22/20 at Penn State (W 85-60), came off bench, 16 mins played, 14 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists.
1/25/20 vs. Wisconsin (L 88-86), came off bench, 16 mins played, 14 points, 1 rebound, 4 assists.

Almost like dejavu for Jackson, as he logged 16 minutes and 14 points each game. Don't be surprised if he is getting a start before the season is over.

FR PF Jawouk Bafou (Georgetown) -- 15-3, 3-3 Big East.

1/22/20 vs. #15 UConn (W 82-64), came off bench, 18 mins played, 8 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist.
1/25/20 vs. Louisville (W 74-52), came off bench, 18 mins played, 3 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist.

Very solid minutes off the bench for Jawouk against UConn. Not quite as good against Louisville, but he is showing a lot of potential in his freshman season.

FR C Tim Sheppard (Mississippi State) -- 12-5, 2-2 SEC.

1/20/20 at Kentucky (W 68-63), started game, 20 mins played, 6 points, 8 rebounds, (Fouled Out).

It was a good news/bad news thing for Tim in his only game of the week. The good news is that when he was in the game, he was really good. The bad news is that he fouled out with just 20 mins played. Another one of those cases of how good would his game have been if he could have logged 30+ minutes.

FR PF Erik Flamebeard (#21 UCLA)- redshirting -- 13-5, 6-1 Pac 10.

1/25/20 vs. USC (W 89-66).

Xavier continues to hold the top spot in the mid-major poll, and they don't look to be letting go of it anytime soon.
