WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING (TV Taping)
Tuesday, Week 3, October 1983
Dallas, TX: 5,000 SOLD OUT

-Pre-Show Dark Match
Iceman Parsons defeated Frank Dusek in 7:12 by pinfall. (D+). The two showed poor chemistry. Parsons celebrates his win in the crowd. (C-)

-Pre-Show Dark Match
Buddy Landell defeats Super Kendo in 4:55 by submission (D). The two showed poor chemistry. After the match, Kendo's manager Gory Guerrero again angrily chews out his client, but Landell comes over, and shoves Gory, starting an animated argument between Gory and Landell - who again seemed to be expressing his unhappiness with the way Gory has been treating his clients. (C)

-WWA Tag Team Championship Match
Kevin Von Erich & Ricky Morton defeated Steve Regal & Al Perez in 3:54 when Mike made Perez submit, to make their first defense of the tag team titles. (D+). Regal was exercising his rematch clause, but was teaming with Perez since Regal had put Huber out of commission last week with a concrete DDT. Mike was slowed by injury

-Brian Adias came out to the ring with his new manager, Gary Hart. Hart mentions Manny's appearance at the show last night, and says that WCCW currently isn't a "safe working environment" for Adias as long as Manny's around. Therefore, in what he calls a "desperate attempt for self-defense", Hart offers a $25,000 bounty to whoever anyone who can seriously injury Manny and put him out of commission. (C-)

-Hector Guerrero (with manager Gory Guerrero) defeats Ken Mantel in 8:54 by pinfall. (C+) Hector makes his WCCW debut.

-Bill Mercer interviews Fritz Von Erich. Fritz says that his knee has improved rapidly, and his WCCW TV Title Cage Match with Garvin is back on, to take place in two weeks. Fritz says that a contract signing tonight will be definitive and create an iron-clad contract - the match will happen in two weeks, no matter what. (B-). During the interview, Jimmy Garvin runs into the ring, intent on attempting to injure Fritz again. Instead, he walks right into an Iron Claw, and is then from from the ring. (B). On his way back to the dressing room, Garvin grabs a mic and yells at Fritz, warning him to "Stay out of his business" - he refers to the incident in Atlanta last week when Fritz made the save for Koko and Eaton after a post-match attack by Garvin. (B)

-Bruiser Brody defeated King Kong Bundy in 5:59 by pinfall. (C+) The match suffered from a lack of selling.

-David Von Erich came to the ring and stated that while Bob Backlund is a great wrestler and will be a huge challenge at Texas rumble, David is still irritated and bewildered that Backlund is calling himself "WCCW Champion" and wearing around a fake title belt. (B).

-A video highlight package is shown recapping the Backlund v. David feud: David nearly having Backlund beat at the Labor Day Star Wars, Backlund's clean pinfall and submission victories over Kerry and Kevin (and over David in tag team matches), and Backlund's self-recognition as "WCCW Champion". (B-)

-WCCW Texas Heavyweight Championship Match
David Von Erich defeats Jimmy Garvin in 12:46 by pinfall to make his 7th defense of the Texas Heavyweight Title. (B). The announcers pointed out during the match, that if Garvin was able to upset David and win the title, Backlund v. David will still occur at Texas Rumble, but would be for the David's American Heavyweight Title Only.

Overall Show Rating; B-

THOUGHTS

-A very good show, which increases our cushion in Cult Status. Midwest popularity increases from 53.5% to 53.7%. Texas Popularity remains 65.9%.

-The second half of the show featured a number of B- or many segments. I think I've done a decent job of building up the main event workers and angles.

-The main event was our first David/Garvin match since June, and as always, the two delivered (this was their 3rd straight "B" match, and 5th in a row that rated at least B-). Garvin has wrestled the all the Von Erich brothers, and David's matches are clearly the best - one of the little things that validates why he's on top.

-The Fritz/Garvin angle is pretty hot - tonight it had three segments, 2 Bs and a B-. the match won't be great, but that's why we're stretching it out with pre-match angles.

-It was a pretty good debut match for Hector Guerrero, though his C+ rating with Ken Mantel was way below what Villano III got with him (Villano/Mantel scored a "B").
