MARCH 2007 - POSTSEASON REPORT

Pookie Wilson’s Ragin’ Cajuns made the NIT and will take on Lafayette College in the first round of that tournament. Wilson is the team’s second leading scorer and if they’re going to advance to a second round date against LSU, he was going to be need to be a key contributor. Well, he showed up big having the biggest game of his career, scoring 35 points and leading the club to the next stage of the NIT.

A quick turnaround for a matchup on March 14th against LSU. LSU is led by freshman guard Johnny Nance (19.1 PPG 5.1 RPG) and forward Charles Dillard, also a first-year. (17.9 PPG, 6.3 RPG) who produce most of the offense for the team. Stop them and you can stop the Tigers. The balanced attack of ULL might be dangerous, especially if Pookie shows up again like he did last night.

Unfortunately, his teammates didn’t get the memo so despite a 21-point performance from Wilson, the Tigers were too much and Louisiana-Lafayette’s season ends at 22-11.
