A lot of non-profits, even just charities, do this - set the default donation to recurring. It's pretty scummy, but but it's kind of an accepted practices in the field. A lot of blogs for people running nonprofits tell you to have recurring as the default to "signal that sustained support is your priority".
If you go to say, Planned Parenthood right now, the default donation is "monthly" rather than "one time"
