General Update

A number of changes have occurred recently and they significantly impact Bear and Bailey. Let me start by stating that Bear and Bailey are basically the youngest of the kids in the group they hang out with. Basically, all the kids fall in a range between Brett and the twins, which was great until now. Now with the older kids graduating and going off to college, the number of friends the twins have to hang out and practice with is getting small.

Over the last several weeks a few of the guys that Bear trains with have left. One because his school schedule conflicts with his ability to attend morning practice, another because he wanted to move to a team where his good friends swim. Initially this wasn't a big deal because it cleared up room in the lanes. However, with his good friend Seth graduating and going to Gannon University to swim and play water polo, and the college kids who've been swimming with Gold to keep in shape returning to campus in the fall, Bear would be left with just Tommy and Riley (when healthy and attending). Unfortunately, we just learned that Tommy is changing teams effective today. That leaves Bear with only an inconsistent Riley to practice with and no one to really train with.

We called the SwimAtlanta where Tommy is moving (not the same one we used to swim with) to see if they could take Bear as well, but they are already overfull. The coach said he would know in July if he's going to have a spot available, but the problem is Gold auto-renews our contract in June. We are really in a tough spot right now.

Bailey appears to be fine staying with Gold. She has her one good friend remaining still swimming on the team, and her commitment to swimming has dwindled significantly (of course being out of the pool for basically all of 2019 thus far will do that).

We'll see where this goes, but I hope Bear can get in with SwimAtlanta, the sport is too hard to do it solo.
